The Big Sky Field Trial Club will once again be hosting its annual open shooting dog classic. The Big Sky Open is run over the same courses that The Montana Open Shooting Dog Championship and any accompanying shooting dog championships are held on. Grounds consist of six one hour courses. Birds being pheasant, hungarian partridge, and sharptail grouse.
The Big Sky Open will start April 15, with club stakes following: open all age derby, open all age, open shooting dog derby.
Winter has been tougher than normal in Montana this year, and we look forward to getting a look at how the birds have fared.
Our landowners were able to get their lands back into the CRP program, and some farming and maintenance of those fields might be underway in preparation of how each parcel was re-enlisted.
The trial is supported through Donations by Tuffy's Dog Food, Nutri-Source Dog Food, and Upland Electric LTD. Through their donations we have been able to maintain a moderate entry fee while awarding generous prizes.
Dog food will be awarded to all Winners.
The Winners of the Classic will receive:
1st - GunX pistol with Lanyard Ring, Custom holster by Windfall Leather Works, and handmade lanyard: donated by Upland Electric LTD and Terry Walsh of Castor, Alberta.
2nd - Saddlebags from Heskett Saddleworks
3rd - Bridle from Heskett Saddleworks
Judges for the Big Sky Open will be Sonny Clark, Billings, Montana and Butch Nelson, Denton, Montana.
More information can be found at the club website http://www.bsftc.com/ or the region website http://www.region14aftca.com/region14/
